Production of Port

All winemaking divides into two distinct parts, growing the grapes, viticulture, and turning those grapes into wine, vinification.

In this respect, Port is no different from any other wine, but the terrain of the region and the style of the wine means special techniques are required here.

The maturation of Port too has an enormous bearing on the final character of the wines resulting in a range of products with quite different styles. This section is, therefore divided into three, Viticulture, Vinification and Port Styles. Click on the buttons below to go each of these.
